Georgia Legal Services and
Mercer Legal Aid Clinic
Georgia Legal Services and Mercer University's Legal Aid Clinic will be providing research and writing services to attorneys who are taking cases through Georgia Legal Services. By contacting Judy Davenport at GLS, attorneys can get assistance with their pro-bono cases from highly qualified students.
Beginning in early November, the Mercer Legal Aid Clinic volunteers will be available from 1:00-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the GLS offices. The Legal Aid Clinic students are first, second, and third year students who are devoted to providing legal aid to the Middle Georgia area. These students bring experience from Mercer's Law Review, Moot Court and legal research and writing classes. Also, many of the volunteers have previous law firm experience.
If you are working on a pro-bono case and would like to have an experienced, dedicated Mercer Legal Aid Clinic volunteer assist you, please call Judy Davenport at Georgia Legal Services at (478) 751-6261.
These are wonderful young students who will be following in your footprints. Please remember how anxious they are to gain experience prior to entering into the private practice of law. You may never know what a vital role you may be playing by giving these wonderful young law students a chance to gain some valuable experience. (Who knows, you may be practicing before some of them in the future). They will be upstairs in our office and will have a telephone, computer, and printer. I urge you to give them a chance. -- Judy Davenport
